NON REVENUE WATER REDUCTION AND BUSINESS MANAGEMENT IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM FOR THE WATER DISTRIBUTION NETWORK OF IBAGUÉ CITY
Preparation and implementation of an action plan for Non Revenue Water reduction. The real losses of water have been reduced from 62% to 39%. The loss reduction corresponded to 2,5 Mm3 (225 000 m3 per month) and the increase of the billed consumption was equivalent to 2.1 million m3 (185,000 m3 per month). This represents a gain for IBAL of 465 000 € during the execution of the project. Leak detection campaigns covered 700 km of network with 90 000 subscribers.
Detection of pipelines, investigation and characterization of networks fed by the Pola Treatment Plant were done using Ground Penetrating Radar (G.P.R).
According to a detailed study of large consumers, the main 337 consumers represented a consumption of more than 300,000 m3 per month. Only 48% of meters in place were working properly.
